Antisemitism Ramps Up at GOP-Supported Anti-Lockdown Protests

At an anti-lockdown protest in Boise, ID, far-right extremist Ammon Bundy continued the growing trend of likening public health measures to the plight of Jews in Nazi Germany.

Referring to the temporary closure of businesses as “tyranny,” Bundy implied that Jews allowed the Holocaust to take place, saying: “They thought that putting their head down and trying to not be noticed was the better way. They thought that compliance would get them through it, and it was just a period of time that they might just pass through and end up better on the other end.”

Donald Trump, conservative groups, and members of the GOP have repeatedly expressed support for anti-lockdown protests, and have failed to condemn the growing presence of antisemitism at these events.

Bundy has links to and received support from Republican state legislators in Idaho and Washington State, including Idaho State Rep. Heather Scott, who referred to Idaho Governor Brad Little as “Little Hitler” in an April 2020 interview about her anti-lockdown stance.
