Antisemitic Campaign Ads from the GOP's Campaign Arm

The National Republican Congressional Committee ran an advertisement in Minnesota's 1st Congressional District supporting Republican Jim Hagedorn and attacking Democrat Dan Feehan, by claiming George Soros (depicted surrounded by piles of cash) bankrolled not only Feehan but also “left-wing mobs paid to riot in the streets,” as well as referencing Colin Kaepernick. Days later, a second ad repeated the theme.

Hagedorn has a history of antisemitism that predates this NRCC advertisement: In 2008, Hagedorn suggested that then-Senator Joe Lieberman’s (D-CT) Jewish identity motivated his vote in favor of the Iraq war, and in 2002, he joked about “fumigating” a memorial service for the late Senator Paul Wellstone, using antisemitic dog whistles about “Marxists.”

About the memorial service. Was it just me or did it not seem as if someone bailed out the union thugs; tree huggers; abortion rights feminists; peaceniks; citizens for gay animal rights; NAMBLA members and the other Marxist sympathizers who protested at last month’s IMF meetings, and transported them to Wellstone’s memorial in a slew of green buses? Talk about lefties all in one convenient location. Hopefully after the ceremony they fumigated the arena.
