Trump Supporter Arrested After Plotting Violence Against "Jew Senator" and Democrats

Federal agents arrested Brian Maiorana, a heavily armed Trump supporter, after he called for New Yorkers to be gunned down in the streets for celebrating the election results. In his online threats, Maiorana singled out Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), referring to him as the “Jew Senator.” The specific targeting of Schumer is noteworthy, particularly in light of Republican congressional campaigns’ consistent demonization of him.

Maiorana's posts indicated his strong support for Donald Trump, and cited the Turner Diaries, a racist novel rife with white supremacy and antisemitism. In early November, prior to his arrest, he posted: "Carnage needs to come in the form of extermination of anyone that claims to be Democrat...as well as their family members."

Trump has repeatedly declined to condemn the violence of his supporters, infamously calling on the white nationalist Proud Boys to "stand back and stand by" during a Presidential debate. Not only does he do little to discourage violence, but he also frequently makes explicit overtures to violent action, as when he encouraged his base to "LIBERATE" states from COVID lockdown procedures.
